Herald Art Show - signed by the artist
Colour Photograph, 1968-71
Archival pigment print on cotton rag paper, signed by Angus O’Callaghan
The annual Herald Outdoor Art Show in Treasury Gardens was a Melbourne mainstay from 1953, introduced to bring high art to the masses, albeit with paintings attached to cyclone wire fencing. Angus demonstrates the patrons filing by have inadvertently becoming part of the show, and captures the casual styles of the era after the confines of the conservative 1950’s.
