Vietnam War Moratorium is part of a series of Angus’s works documenting the largest public demonstrations ever seen in Melbourne to that time. The protests held in Melbourne formed part of a national movement that began in mid-1970 opposing Australia’s involvement in the war and mandatory conscription in particular, that many have argued marked the nation’s loss of innocence, heralding a far-reaching cultural shift away from the once-proud outpost of the British Empire.
